The Massey-Harris Model 744 PD Tractor was first produced in limited
quantities at the U.K. Trafford Park, Manchester factory in 1948. The
744 was based on the Canadian built 44, the prefix '7' was used to indicate
British manufacture. The British tractors were fitted with a
Perkins diesel (PD) six cylinder engine in place of a six cylinder
Continental unit used in the Canadian built Model 44 tractors.
